Accumulation of Heavy Metals in Bottom Sediment and Their Migration in the Water Ecosystem of Kapshagay Reservoir in Kazakhstan

The bottom sediment of reservoirs has many functions. Among them, matter sorption is a very important one, and results in side-effects on the reservoir forming water–bottom system. As result, can also be an indicator anthropogenic water pollution. There only little knowledge this situation study area. main objective was analysis heavy metal accumulation sediment, as well their ability to migrate throughout system spatial distribution Kapshagay Reservoir Kazakhstan. Heavy concentrations, both samples were determined using atomic absorption spectrophotometric method. Surfer software used visualize processes migration accumulation. Another development model maps metals area, which indicated significant loads. It obvious that transboundary inflow Ili River from small rivers territory Kazakhstan are reasons for load. spectrometric verify pollution reservoir, revealing increased concentrations zinc reaching up 10.8 µg/L lead 32.7 µg/L, transported by runoff left bank into Reservoir. Sediment close central part dam zone reached following values: 37.0 mg/kg 8.8 mg/kg. indicate load ecological conditions This discussed compared with other relevant studies.
